Nicola Antonio Porpora – “Alto giove”, aria de l’acte 3r de l’òpera “Polifemo” – Simone Kermes

From Simone’s fabulous new album “Dramma”, with some of the most virtuosic castrati arias ever written. This beautiful aria comes from the opera “Polifemo” by Porpora, one of the nearly-forgotten masters of the baroque period, especially written for Farinelli.
This aria has always reminded me of the elegance and sophistication of the baroque period, conjuring dreams of fragrant dark purple velvet.
