Come quello anch’io pur sono che non cedo e m’abbandono a timore di rio martoro. Though thunder cracks and the heavens blaze, no thunderbolt or lightning flash affrights the sacred bay. And I am like the bay, for I  will not yield nor be subdued  by fear of cruel torments.
